Posada at Casa Mariposa 2011

On December 17th we celebrated Casa Mariposa’s first annual Mexican Posada.

Posadas are an enactment of the search for lodging by St. Joseph and Virgin Mary while going to Bethlehem. After being denied twice by two different lodges, Joseph and Mary were allowed to stay in a stable.

With the help of our neighbors, friends and family we reenacted this event in which some of them played the part of the innkeepers and others played the role of the Pilgrims, who had to request lodging.

At the end of the reenactment we welcomed our special guests with a variety of traditional Mexican foods such as Pozole, Tamales, Ranchero Beans and Ponche.  The kids also experienced the breaking of the pinata which held many candies for them to enjoy.

Thank you to all of our wonderful guests for making this event a huge success! We hope to see you all again next year!
